Photo compliments: the National Youth Council of DominicaThe National Youth Council of Dominica (NYCD), in an effort to help keep the environment clean, has spearheaded a project to curb the instances of improper garbage disposal around the island. The project dubbed “Youth: We Keep It Clean” aims to construct 50 garbage receptacles island wide. These will serve as proper storage for garbage until collected by the relevant authorities on stipulated days, as well as to deter motorists and residents alike from wantonly dumping garbage, particularly along the island’s highways. Construction has commenced on the first of these garbage receptacles in the community of Salisbury and two other locations along the West Coast road. On Saturday 13th April, 2013, the NYCD along with the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation, Salisbury Enhancement Committee, Coulibistrie Youth Group, Salisbury Young Achievers and the Parliamentary representative for the Salisbury constituency gathered to tackle the unsightly garbage and to lay the foundation for the first two receptacles.Residents and motorists alike are asked to be mindful of the impact that the indiscriminate dumping of garbage has on our environment, as well as on our eco-tourism industry. The Council urges all concerned to make proper use of these garbage receptacles and to practice proper garbage disposal. In the coming months, the National Youth Council of Dominica will begin construction of more receptacles in the communities of Silver Lake and Soufriere/Scotts Head. They are also soliciting the support of business houses and residents to lend support when the “Youth: We Keep It Clean” initiative comes to their respective communities. An extremely curious and explosive situation is set next week in connection with the recent decision of the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union for a new 5-year contract for the television rights to the football matches of the First and Second Leagues.A powerful union of “reds” and “blues” is expected – CSKA and Levski will stand side by side in an attempt to veto this decision. The two greats of Bulgarian football want a bigger share than the one they deserve at the moment and which is expected to be paid to them in the next five years. They strongly disagree with the terms offered by the current and future right holder. Recent history does not remember such a unification of the two most popular football clubs in Bulgaria, which would lead to serious majority support for any of their demands, if the supporters of both teams and the blue-red football community stand behind him.Levski and CSKA claim and are categorical in this statement that they have the main merit in the formation of the rating of the Half League and that the matches with their participation are among the most watched for years. The top management of both teams is also dissatisfied with the serious and crucial decision taken by the BFU Executive Committee on Thursday, given that this management of the headquarters is actually resigned, a new Congress is awaited, respectively a new Executive Committee. It was rumored that Levski are even ready for final measures regarding the admission of cameras for the remaining home matches of the team. For now, the possible consequences of such a final move are being considered. At the same time, the “blues” are preparing a draft proposal to the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, in connection with the TV rights, which will be supported by CSKA. For their part, the “reds” are also ready for serious resistance against the current status quo, only postponing any action in this direction immediately after playing the final of the Bulgarian Cup next Wednesday. The biggest dissatisfaction on the part of the two greats comes from the way the last decision of the Executive Committee was made – there was no preliminary consultation with the teams, no poll, as well as a possible discussion. We remind you that last year again in the summer there was excitement in this direction. Then, however, the hypothetical “union of forces” between CSKA and Levski did not take place. The bosses of the two teams allegedly reached an agreement, one of them – Vasil Bozhkov, resigned at the last moment. Curiously, at the time, his action coincided with a new contract between the National Lottery and the management of the rights television. However, current information indicates that it is currently more than real.
