New Delhi: A 42-year-old woman and her live-in-partner turned out to be killers of the elderly couple and their maid in Vasant Enclave area of Vasant Vihar. Police said that robbery was the motive behind the incident. Police identified the accused as Preeti Sehrawat (42) and Manoj Bhatt (39). “The woman was the daughter of deceased elderly woman’s colleague,” police said. Both the accused had suffered a huge loss in their previous business.Police said on the intervening night of July 22-23, a triple murder was committed at Vasant Apartment. A young female nursing assistant and an elderly couple were murdered and the house was found ransacked. Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Golchha said deceased daughter told them that Sehrawat, daughter of her deceased mother’s colleague had suddenly visited her parents on June 17 and had also stayed there overnight. It was further revealed that Sehrawat had used the phone of deceased Khushbu (nursing attendant) to talk to the deceased daughter,” added Special CP. Police later found that on June 23 she had left her home from Gurugram, along with her live-in partner Manoj Bhatt and checked into a hotel at Gurugram, Sector-31 which raised suspicions. “Local investigation revealed that both the accused were in poor financial condition and both had unstable marriages,” police said. Both of them were first detained from Gurugram and later arrested. Sehrawat had deliberately come and stayed overnight on June 17 with senior citizens and both had again come on June 21 to do the escape route recce. On a fateful night, the accused reached Vasant Apartment flat on the motorcycle being aware of the CCTV cameras they had covered their faces. Sehrawat went to the deceased flat and Bhatt followed after waiting for a few minutes. The maid opened the door, while the Mathurs were in their bedroom. “Bhatt asked the nursing attendant to switch on the TV to suppress any possible cry. He then took out a bottle of Pepsi in which he had already mixed alcohol. Sehrawat asked Khushbu to prepare tea,” police said. Bhatt stabbed Khushbu multiple times in the dining area and then went on to kill the elderly couple. Soon thereafter, they ransacked the entire house for more than two hours. Police recovered one diamond studded ring, gold chain and one artificial gold colour bangle of the deceased couple and Rs 86,000 in cash.
