first_imgTo apply, please visit https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/rsccd/jobs/3049484/director-facility-planning-district-construction-support-services Director, Facility Planning, District Construction & SupportServicesRancho Santiago Community College District Salary Range: Grade C: $131,209.22 – $137,769.68 -$144,658.17 – $151,891.07 – $159,485.63 – $167,459.91 -$175,832.91/yearJob Type:Job Number: CL21-00077Location: Santa Ana, CADivision: Business Operations & Fiscal ServicesClosing: 5/13/2021 5:00 PM PacificJob DescriptionCLASS SUMMARYDirectly responsible to the Assistant Vice Chancellor, FacilityPlanning & District Construction & Support Services, forleadership and administration in the areas of planning, design, bidpreparation, construction delivery, maintenance, grounds keeping,custodial services and the day to day operations of the department.Supervises and evaluates staff assigned to the department andperforms related duties as assigned.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESDirect, administer and supervise the planning, design, bidpreparation and construction execution of a wide array of projectsand activities concurrently; assure projects are in compliance withdistrict standards applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations;supervise staff, consultants, programs, construction and supportservices to ensure projects and activities are delivered in aneffective, timely and responsible manner; interface withcontractors or other professional consultants to resolve disputesthrough proper communication, negotiation and contract conformancereview; assist in developing and implementing procedures andbusiness practices related to facilities planning, design,contracting, bidding and construction, safety, fiscal budgetmanagement, cost controls, scheduling and other project managementor department tools as needed; establish and evaluate districtstandards for materials, equipment, systems, and or other as deemedappropriate and necessary; review, develop, monitor and administera variety of professional consultant, vendor and contractorcontracts and assure compliance with provisions outlined incontracts; advise the Assistant Vice Chancellor on Board agendaitems and management issues affecting the department and orprojects; review systems and information to determine bestpractices, best products and applications as well as othertechnologies that may maximize the efficient use ofresources.Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and evaluation of staffassigned to the department, coordinate and assign work; oversee andmanage the execution of essential duties related to facilities,maintenance, ground keeping and other services or projects insupport of the District’s Strategic Comprehensive Plan, FacilityMaster Plans, and other goals and objectives; assure the timelypreparation, maintenance and distribution of various reports andrecords as required by federal, state, local and districtregulations or as required by the district; participate indeveloping long range and strategic plans for facilities andoperations; determine the need for scheduled maintenance and assistin preparation of plans; work collaboratively with college campusesand other facility sites to evaluate and assess condition needs anddevelop appropriate budgets, scope of work, and recommendations fordelivery to ensure work is completed in a timely and cost efficientmanner; attend a variety of meetings and participate indistrict-wide meetings as required; provide operational leadershipto the district and other staff and consultants in the areas offacilities, planning, construction, maintenance, grounds keepingand custodial services.Job QualificationsTraining and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, constructionmanagement or other related field; and eight years of increasinglyresponsible management experience in facilities planning andconstruction. Demonstrated experience in managing local bond andstate funded projects is preferred. Experience working in aCalifornia community college facilities management position ispreferred. Possession of a valid California driver’s license isrequired. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledgeof: Principles of management, supervision and publicadministration; local, state and federal laws governingconstruction of facilities; Public works bidding process andapplicable laws; building codes; construction delivery methods;building methods and materials; low voltage systems and otherdigital or network control systems; Division of State Architectrequirements and building codes, and other agency requirements forfacility planning and construction; safety practices required tocomply with various safety and hazardous materials trainingrequirements.
