Horse Sport Enews Waylon Roberts of Port Perry, Ont. made his mark at the Fair Hill International Horse Trials, held April 17-19 in Elkton, Md., by taking first place in the CIC2* division.Riding Bill Owen, a 10-year-old Canadian Sport Horse gelding sired by Money Talks he co-owns with Kelly Plitz, Roberts went straight to the top of the leaderboard on his dressage score of 39.50 penalties, and held down his position after impressive clear performances in both the show jumping and cross country phases.“He was incredible in dressage, resulting in a personal best score for us both,” said Roberts of Bill Owen, who he also rode to a win at the 2014 Fair Hill International in the CIC1* division. “In show jumping he answered everything really well for the clear round, so I figured we were in a good position to go on home with a fast pace in the cross country for the win. It was a really nice event and Derek di Grazia put together a really nice course.”Colleen Loach of Dunham, Que. also put in a solid performance in the CIC2* division to finish in seventh place with Peter Barry’s 11-year-old Selle Francais gelding, Qorry Blue D’Argouges, sired by Mr. Blue. After a dressage score of 48.80 penalties put the pair into 12th place, they steadily moved up the standings after a clear show jumping performance and a cross country round that incurred just 2.40 time faults for a total score of 51.20 penalties.Canada was also represented in the CIC3* division, with 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games duo, Peter Barry of Dunham, Que. and Kilrodan Abbott, finishing in 13th place. A strong start in dressage placed them in 12th with 58 penalties. In the CIC1* division, Caileigh Levely-Connolly of Carlisle, Ont. finished in 13th place riding West River, while Autumn Smith of Seagrave, Ont. and Mercury followed in 15th place.Complete results from the Fair Hill International Horse Trials can be found here.Fair Hill International Horse TrialsCIC3* DivisionPlacing / Rider / Horse / Score13th / Peter Barry / Kilrodan Abbott / 102.0017th / Waylon Roberts / Kelecyn Cognac / 112.80CIC2* DivisionPlacing / Rider / Horse / Score1st / Waylon Roberts / Bill Owen / 39.507th / Colleen Loach / Qorry Blue D’Argouges / 51.2013th / Peter Barry / Kalle 86 / 68.5019th / Ian Roberts / Faolan / 89.60CIC1* DivisionPlacing / Rider / Horse / Score13th / Caileigh Levely-Connolly / West River / 68.0015th / Autumn Smith / Mercury / 73.0016th / Kristy Gasparini / Grantstown Ranger / 74.0019th / Linnea Given / Up Town Girl / 84.0021st / Sarah Croft / Clever / 106.8022nd / Sarah Croft / NADXXIIELI / 108.40 Tags: Waylon Roberts, Bill Owen, Fair Hill International Horse Trials, Email*last_img read more
