first_imgNew Delhi: Delhi BJP Vice-President Shazia Ilmi on Monday held a press conference in response to a complaint filed by the Aam Aadmi Party objecting to her and Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari's attendance as chief guests at a programme to be held on April 17. The complaint was filed to the Election Commission after the BJP leaders were invited to attend a programme at the India Islamic Cultural Centre as chief guests.Addressing the media, Shazia said that this complaint from the opposition shows their frustration as a reaction to the rising popularity of the BJP. She said, "The Aam Aadmi Party is so much afraid of this programme going to be held on April 17 that they have hatched a conspiracy with the opposition to stop it." Shazia said that the organisation has held 35 programmes in the last five years and that all of them focused on socio-economic problems faced by economically weaker sections of the society. Insinuating that the Kejriwal-led AAP is fearful of defeat in the upcoming polls, Shazia raised doubts as to why the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is trying to bar them from attending the programme. "The Aam Aadmi Party is playing the politics of Muslim appeasement by giving communal color to an ordinary programme. This must be condemned," she said.last_img
